DeBlois Bros. Grocery Wholesalers in Charlottetown, PE organized the first Maritime Clover Farm program in 1958. After obtaining the rights to the Clover Farm name, they formed the program with a number of Prince Edward Island grocery retailers. We are very proud to still have a number of the original Prince Edward Island retailers with us today.
In 1985 when DeBlois Bros. was purchased by Sobeys, the Clover Farm program then became a retail division of TRA Maritimes. The Clover Farm program was relaunched outside of PE in the spring of 1994 when Sherbrooke Village was opened. The move into New Brunswick was started with opening of the new store in Burnt Church. And now the Atlantic connection is complete with the opening of the first Newfoundland store in St. Alban’s.
With big box stores encroaching on the majority of small communities, Clover Farm stores will continue to prosper and grow because of the strength of the local owers/operators. Our local owners offer that personal touch combined with personalized service that the big boxes cannot.
